Only if you drive it to the repair shop. If you trailer it, or have it towed it won’t need insurance. But once fixed, to drive it home you would need insurance, so why not just get it and be done with it?

I am in the United States and have liability-only auto insurance coverage. I will be on vacation (out of United States) for about a month and my wife (also on my insurance policy) would be out of the United States for more than six (6) months.

call ur insurance company they will probably offer a limited insurance that will keep ur car covered but not cost very much…….military friends of mine do it all the time……basically car inst insured wile they are gone but policy still covers for about 6-12 bucks a month
