I was driving a rental car. I and the other driver went to a police station. We reported it and I reported it to the rental company as well. Then I went to a hospital to check-up my body.
I got a call from the hospital today. The problem is the auto insurance I bought (National Protection Plus) does not cover medical expenses. I gave the other driver’s policy number (Unique Insurance Company) and heard that the number was correct, but the number does not cover the other driver.
The other driver does not pick up my call. What should I do?

OOPS! There is a bureau which has been set up by insurers to settle claims against non insured drivers. I do not know the address but CAB will. I’m not sue if it will help in your case but it is worth a try. Failing that it is a case of suing other driver and if he has no funds it’s a case of grin and bear it.
In any case I would inform the police about your suspicions, they will not be interested but they may investigate further
I of course assume the accident was not your fault

The rental car firms insurance will cover this and any medical expenses, they will have to sue the other driver in a civil case for damages ,costs and expenses if he is not covered.Let the rental company sort it out ,its not your problem now.You must keep a full account of the accident and subsequent actions taken by yourself and the results for your own protection and future litigation if any.If the accident was not your fault you must call the police and report it at the time, this is cast in stone,no matter what the other driver tells you at the time.

The problem with buying insurance for a rental vehicle is that the medical coverage, for the most part, is an elective that you would have to choose in addition to the basic collision/comprehensive coverage that you purchase. I am assuming that you rented the vehicle for pleasure not because of another accident. If you were in the rental due to an accident, your own insurance coverage would take care of your medical expenses.
As far as the other driver’s insurance, most insurance plans cover the other vehicle, so I think that the hospital doesn’t want to use what is called third party coverage. When you file a medical claim against another person’s insurance, it is called a bodily injury claim and is usually settled after all treatment has been completed. It does not cover the medical bills as they arrive. That would only be covered through your own insurance, through personal injury protection or med pay.
Without having a few more details, it’s difficult to give you an accurate action for your next step.
