can auto insurer retaliate for filing a PIP claim. can they notify other insurers that you filed a claim?

i was a passenger in a automobile accident and suffered severe injuries some years ago. after undergoing extensive rehabilitation and 2 surgeries i am now attempting to return to work. i was just informed by the third potential employer that i will not be hired simply because thier insurance company will not insure me. i asked why and was told that STATE FARM has permanent notes identifying me as high risk because of the PIP claim that i filed 4 years ago. Is this legal? Can they legally block me from gaining employment? What should I do or who should I contact to rememdy this problem? I happen to drive for a living, can I ask them or demand them to undo this terrible thing they have done? other than being involved in this automobile accident as a passenger, i have never ever filed an automobile accident insurance claim. i have never recieved a moving violation ticket. i got a parking ticket once many years ago. please please please help

State Farm is not identifying you as high risk. What they do is report all claims to a database that almost all insurance companies use. It is up to the potential insurance company if they want to cover you, and yes, it is perfectly legal.

I don’t know of any insurance companies that will deny you insurance based upon one not-at-fault claim. I would contact State Farm to see if something else might be on your record, and if it is have them remove it. Also, I’d contact the insurance companies that refused you to see if there was something else that they saw on your record. Maybe something got coded against you because of a clerical error.
